My dad brought it home to me when I was about 6 years old, which means I have owned it for over fifty years. The wood of the back, sides and neck all have beautiful figuring and excellent resonance. But I learned to play on this guitar, and it has a very special attachment for me; it is after all my very first guitar. So when the top became so badly split and chipped that it was beyond repair, there was no choice but to replace it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After carefully removing the top, other structural issues came to light; I will need to address them along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First step though was to decide what kind of wood to use for the new top.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the progress of the project <em><a href=\"\/index.php\/luthiery\/restoring-my-first-guitar\/\">here<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This page is an index to my luthiery projects.
