Steady in the storm,
The rock that the waves crash over;
Still there in the calm.

Ignore others' faults,
They are outside of your scope;
Focus on your own.

The winds of change blow,
Never failing in their task;
Constant renewal.

Gulls glide overhead,
The wind carries their shrill calls
With the salty spray.

Voices of the past,
Long gone but not forgotten;
Your whispers echo.

Keep the mind busy,
Plenty you haven’t learnt yet.
Never stop learning.

Strong winds blow heavy waves,
Roughly dragging shingle beach;
No swimming today.

Sunrise creeps through blinds,
Cold noses pressing my face:
“Time for a walk, Dad”

Work on your own faults,
Others’ are a distraction:
Real change starts with you.

Never give up hope;
With steady application
You advance surely.

Calm as a mill pond,
Pink tinges in a blue sky;
Sunset at the beach.

The simplest pleasures
Unexpectedly appear,
If you allow them

You will never know
What you can do, ‘til you try;
Go, surprise yourself!

Live in the present.
Find joy in the little things;
There are more of them!

Daunted by your fears?
Embrace them, don’t just face them.
Courage overcomes.
